The Katsina State Government has enrolled 320,000 persons in the formal sector programme of its contributory healthcare scheme. 53,241 vulnerable persons are also expected to be covered, under the Scheme. Governor Aminu Masari, said this at the flag off of the implementation of the scheme in Katsina. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday queried the board of First Bank Nigeria Limited over the removal of the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the bank, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, saying the action was without regulatory approval. The Bauchi State Government, has revoked the rehabilitation and expansion project of Kirfi General Hospital, awarded by the previous government. This followed an inspection visit, paid by Governor Bala Mohammed to the project site, in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, over what the governor described as the non-chalant attitude by the contractor. The Katsina State Government, has increased its budget for the year 2021 by 25%, to Combat Malaria parasites in the state. The State Commissioner for Health, Yakubu Danja, who said this during a press briefing to mark this year’s World Malaria Day, added that Long Lasting Insecticide Mosquito Nets are also being distributed, to replace the old ones given out free three years ago. Top Nigerian lender, Fidelity Bank Plc recorded a strong financial performance in the first quarter of 2021, posting appreciable growth in profits for the period ended 31 March 2021. Details of the unaudited results, released at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) show that Profit before Tax (PBT) grew by 53.9% from N6.6bn in 2020 to N10.1bn for the corresponding period of March 31, 2021. Similarly, Net revenue in the period increased by 13.4% from N30.3bn in Q1 2020 to N34.4bn in 2021, just as the bank recorded growth in other performance indices.
