A Kano State High Court has ordered a retrial of Kano singer, Yahya Sharif sentenced to death by hanging by an upper shariah court for Blasphemy because of procedural errors and irregularities at the lower court. The court also discharged and acquitted Omar Faruk who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for being a minor and without legal representation. A 16-year-old girl (name witheld), on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two phones and a laptop, worth N105,000 The police charged the minor for conspiracy, unlawful possession and theft, under Sections 411, 329 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015. One person was feared dead while scores of vehicles got burnt in a tanker explosion that occurred in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The incident occurred around 8:15 am on Tuesday on the Presidential Boulevard around Guarantee Trust Bank opposite Lawson Group School, Kuto, Abeokuta.
