A petrol tanker carrying 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, crashed and caught fire on Monday along the Iseyin/Oyo Road in Oyo State.
The incident happened at NICO Farm, located in the Iseyin Local Government Area.
The tanker, with the number plate Lagos LM62XP, reportedly lost control while in motion, somersaulted into a ditch, and caught fire.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in Ibadan. He said firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving the alert.

“The fire was reported at exactly 10:46 a.m. on Monday,” he said. “Our team, led by PFS1 Azeez, rushed to the scene. On getting there, we found the petrol tanker had fallen into a ditch and caught fire.”
Akinwande added that the firemen responded quickly, using chemical foam to prevent the fire from spreading or causing an explosion.
Thanks to their swift action, no nearby buildings or vehicles were damaged, and the fire was completely extinguished. Traffic on the road was later restored.
