

The Alumni Association of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Abeokuta, last week Friday, paid a Courtesy and Solidarity visit to the Provost, Dr. Rafiu Soleye, as part of its efforts to strengthen ties ahead of the College’s 50th anniversary celebration.
Speaking during the visit, the National Alumni President of the Association, Alhaji Olawale Olalekan, assured the Provost and Management of the Alumni’s unwavering support towards the success of the golden jubilee.
He, also appreciated the Provost for his continuous commitment to the development of the College and acknowledged his active involvement in Alumni activities, including attending over six reunions.
Alhaji Olalekan highlighted the role of the Alumni in stabilizing the Association after the post-election crisis and praised the collaborative efforts that led to the successful 2024 Convocation.


He urged the College to consider further support for the Alumni by providing an operational secretariat, vehicles, and employment opportunities for qualified alumni.
In his response, the Provost who is also an Alumnus, expressed gratitude to the Association for the visit and solidarity. He gave a brief history of the College, commending the founding Principal and past Provosts for their contributions to the College’s growth. He noted that through collective efforts and the support of TETFUND, the College now stands as a Centre of Excellence with disciplined students, committed staff, and improved infrastructure.
Dr. Soleye, further emphasized the significance of the upcoming 50th anniversary, especially as he is also an alumnus. He confirmed that the Alumni Day has been incorporated into the celebration noting that 15 subcommittees have been constituted, and an itinerary of events has been drafted.
He also approved some of the Alumni’s requests and announced that the College’s dual mandate programme would commence in September 2025.
Highlight of the visit was a tour to acquaint the Alumni members of the recent infrastructural developments in the College.
