The Nigerian Union of Tailors, Abeokuta South chapter, has pledged its support for all Peoples Democratic Party candidates including Iyabo Obasanjo, Toyin Amuzu, Olufunbi Majekodunmi and Adeoye Adewale Adeniran declaring that their contributions to the welfare of residents and community development have earned them recognition even before attaining any political position.
The union’s position signals growing support for the PDP candidates as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The tailors said the interventions of the PDP candidates in the community demonstrated their commitment to the people, stressing that effective leadership should be measured by tangible contributions to society rather than promises made during election campaigns.
They expressed confidence that their track records of community engagement would translate into purposeful representation if given the mandate to represent them.

The endorsement also highlights the growing expectations of artisans and small-scale business operators for representatives who understands their challenges and can champion policies that promote economic empowerment.

Members of the union are expected to benefit from stronger advocacy for vocational skills development, access to financial opportunities and support programmes capable of improving the livelihoods of tailors and other entrepreneurs.
Amuzu who is seeking to represent Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and other PDP candidates have continued to attract attention through their community-focused activities.
The union’s pledge adds to the political significance of their grassroots engagements ahead of the 2027 polls, with supporters expressing optimism that their contributions before occupying public office could be an indication of what to expect if elected.
