The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Chief Toyin Amuzu, has pledged to give greater value to teachers’ welfare and facilitate legislation aimed at improving the quality of education in Nigeria.
Amuzu made the commitment in a goodwill message to teachers as the world marked World Teachers’ Day, describing educators as critical nation-builders whose contributions extend far beyond the classroom.
The PDP candidate said teachers deserve better recognition, improved working conditions and the necessary support to effectively perform their responsibilities, stressing that quality education cannot be achieved without a motivated and properly supported teaching workforce.
According to him, as a legislator, he would advocate policies and facilitate laws that would strengthen the education sector, improve learning facilities and create an environment where teachers can thrive while students receive quality education.

He described teachers as “nation-builders, mentors and change-makers,” noting that their dedication to shaping young minds remains fundamental to the development of any society.
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all dedicated teachers who shape minds and build futures. Your selfless efforts are the foundation upon which societies thrive,” Amuzu said.
He further noted that the influence of teachers goes beyond the classroom, as they help shape communities, nurture future leaders and contribute to national development.
“Without teachers, there would be no progress, no innovation and no leaders. Your impact transcends classrooms, influencing communities and nations,” he added.
Amuzu commended teachers for their patience, resilience and commitment to moulding the younger generation, urging them to remain steadfast in inspiring hope, excellence and responsible citizenship among their pupils and students.
The Asiwaju Leragun Egba reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education and promoting the welfare of teachers, saying that investing in educators is ultimately an investment in the future of the nation.
“Keep inspiring! I celebrate you today and always,” he said.
