In a call to national unity, Nigerians have been encouraged to join forces for the nation’s advancement and to steadfastly adhere to democratic tenets and values, fostering sustained development and prosperity.

On the occasion of this year’s Democracy Day, Chief Toyin Amuzu, a distinguished Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the 2023 House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta South, delivered a poignant message.

In his statement, Chief Amuzu acknowledged the challenging times but implored the populace to persevere, maintaining accountability from their leaders and engaging in civic dialogue.

“Our commitment to fortifying our institutions and maintaining democracy as the cornerstone of governance is imperative,” he stated.

Paying homage to the sacrifices of democratic heroes such as Chief MKO Abiola, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, Alfred Rewane, and other valiant figures who laid down the path to democracy, Chief Amuzu called upon Nigerians to cherish and advance this heritage by fostering unity, justice, and equal rights for all citizens.

He highlighted the necessity of transcending political divides to collectively enhance the nation’s welfare.

Chief Amuzu appealed to all citizens to stand together in harmony and dedication to democratic ideals and principles, thereby promoting the nation’s collective well-being.

He further urged the celebration of Nigeria’s rich cultural mosaic and the cultivation of an inclusive ethos, all while pursuing a luminous and prosperous future for present and future generations.
