Abeokuta, Ogun State – January 19, 2026
The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count charge against internet blogger Adetoun Onajobi, widely known on social media as @justadetoun, over allegations of cyberbullying and dissemination of false information against the state government.
According to police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the charges are now pending before the Abeokuta Division of the Federal High Court. Authorities allege that Onajobi used various online platforms to publish false accusations targeting the Ogun State Government and to bully Governor Dapo Abiodun, in violation of Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act.
Investigators revealed that Onajobi was invited for questioning on January 2, 2026, but failed to appear. Instead, her lawyer submitted a letter claiming she was medically indisposed, attaching a medical report purportedly issued by a doctor.
Police say subsequent investigations confirmed the report was fabricated. The doctor involved was arrested and later admitted that the document was concocted at Onajobi’s request during a phone conversation facilitated by her lawyer. The doctor has since been arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court on charges of conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstructing justice.

Despite repeated invitations, Onajobi has allegedly remained evasive, with her current whereabouts unknown. The Police Command stated that it is pursuing all lawful means to apprehend her and ensure she appears in court to face the charges.
“The Ogun State Police Command remains resolute in tackling all forms of crime—violent, white-collar, or digital—while respecting constitutional rights,” DSP Babaseyi said. “Free speech has lawful limits and does not grant immunity from criminal conduct.”
Authorities added that investigations are ongoing to identify other suspects linked to the alleged false information used to obstruct police inquiries.
