Ẹ̀gbá First, a sociocultural group dedicated to promoting the heritage and political advancement of the Ẹ̀gbá people, has formally declared its support for Dr. Tunde Lemo, OFR, in the upcoming 2027 Ogun State gubernatorial election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement signed by Convener Coker Oluwapelumi Emmanuel, the group said: “Ẹ̀gbá First… has thrown our weight behind the governorship ambition of one of our best in terms of intellect, capacity building, charisma and exquisite leadership, Dr. Tunde Lemo, in the coming 2027 Ogun State gubernatorial election under the umbrella of the All Progressive Congress (APC).”
The group praised the current administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, noting achievements such as the Gateway International Airport, the upgraded MKO Abiola Stadium, and extensive road projects. “It’s only proper that this momentum be sustained by a capable hand, and we do believe there is no other person fit for this role than the enigma himself, Dr. Tunde Lemo,” the statement read.
Dr. Lemo’s credentials were highlighted extensively. He graduated with first-class honours in accounting from the University of Nigeria in 1984, became a chartered accountant in 1997, and rose through the corporate finance sector. His career includes serving as Managing Director of Wema Bank Plc, Deputy Governor of Operations at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Chairman of the Abuja Securities & Commodity Exchange, and board roles at Africa Finance Corporation, FERMA, Titan Trust Bank, and Flutterwave.

According to Ẹ̀gbá First: “All this enormous wealth of experience is what has set Dr. Tunde Lemo apart from his co-contenders in this race as the most fit candidate in this coming election. As the governor of Ogun State, he will not only run an all-inclusive government but also attract foreign and local investors to Ogun State, which will boost the IGR of the state.”
The group dismissed zoning considerations, stressing merit over geography: “We strongly believe what Ogun State needs to consolidate the ongoing developments in the state is a qualified leader irrespective of his race, town or senatorial district; moreover, the concept of zoning is not entrenched in our constitution. We support quality over quantity, substance over style, value over volume, skill over speed and class over count.”
“We fully support the ambition of one of our best products in Ẹ̀gbá land, Dr. Tunde Lemo, OFR, and we are certain that by the grace of God Almighty, Dr. Tunde Lemo, OFR, will succeed.”
