Fuel Price Hike: Shettima summon Lokpobiri, Kyari
Share0Regarding the ongoing crisis over the fuel Price increase across the country, the Vice-President Kashim Shettima, on Thursday, summoned the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri to a meeting at the State House, Abuja.
Also invited to the meeting are the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Mele Kyari, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Recall that the NNPCL on Tuesday increased the pump price of petrol at its retail stations across the country from around N580 to N855 per litre.
Speaking to State House journalists after the meeting, Lokpobiri assured the public that the fuel crisis would soon be resolved, saying the NNPCL has sufficient fuel supplies to meet national demand.
Lokpobiri, also urged Nigerians to remain calm, adding that increased availability of petroleum products would foster competition and drive down prices.
He further emphasised that the government was not responsible for recent hikes in fuel costs.
