

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, July 27, 2026, officially inaugurated the Committee for its 40th Anniversary Celebration, signalling the commencement of preparations for the landmark event scheduled for January 2028.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof Olusegun Idowu, congratulated the Chairman and members of the Committee on their appointment and charged them to deliver a memorable celebration befitting the University’s remarkable achievements over the past four decades.
The Vice-Chancellor particularly commended the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Adeniyi Olayanju, for his impressive antecedents and wealth of experience, especially from his service as the Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University. He expressed confidence in the Committee’s ability to organise a befitting anniversary celebration that would further enhance FUNAAB’s reputation. He, therefore, formally inaugurated the Committee to commence work immediately.
Responding on behalf of the Committee, the Chairman expressed profound appreciation to the University Management for the confidence reposed in the members.


He described the University’s 40th Anniversary as a significant milestone worthy of celebration, noting that the institution’s impressive global rankings and numerous achievements within four decades underscored its remarkable growth and impact.
According to him, the calibre and diversity of the Committee’s membership, comprising distinguished Academics, Administrators and professionals, would ensure the successful execution of its assignment.
Prof. Olayanju assured the Management that the Committee would diligently discharge its responsibilities, stressing that members regarded themselves as stakeholders committed to advancing the University’s legacy.
He disclosed that the Committee had already commenced strategic planning and would leverage both physical and virtual meetings to meet its timelines, particularly the mandate to deliver key aspects of its assignment within the first three months. The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo.
Members of the Committee are Prof. Olufemi Ojo, College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET); Prof. Adegoke Bakare, College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC); Prof. Mutiu Busari, College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT); Prof. Oluwakemi Irekhore, Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre (AMREC); Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu, SERVICOM Unit and Dr. Abdussobur Salaam, Senate and Admissions.
Other members are Mr. Olurotimi Fasunwon, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Services (DICTS); Dr. Emmanuel Bankole, Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS); Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, Ag. Head, Directorate of Public Relations; Mrs. Oluremi Adeleke, Directorate of Internal Audit; Mr. Julius Sonde, Bursary Department; while Mr. Olajide Oduyemi of Senate and Admissions serves as Secretary to the Committee.
