ABEOKUTA, NIGERIA — The inaugural edition of the God of Glory Revival and Evangelical Ministry (GOGREM) Football Outreach Tournament officially gets underway today at the Sodubi Primary School Field in Abeokuta.
The community-focused tournament brings together youth teams across Abeokut to promote sportsmanship, foster peace, and share spiritual values through football. Anchored on the scripture 1 Corinthians 16:14—”Let all that you do be done in love”—the outreach aims to combine athletic competition with positive character building.
“This event goes beyond football,” said event organizers, the GOGREM’s sports director, Brother Taiwo Joshua. “It provides a positive platform for young individuals to connect, showcase their talents, and embrace community values in a supportive environment, unites the youths, and to evangelize.”
All the matches will be played at the Sodubi Primary School field.
Members of the public, sports enthusiasts, and community leaders are invited to attend and support the participating teams.
