In a dramatic turn of events, Dr. Agaba Iduh Fidel, the interim Director General of NATCOM, has been detained by the Department of State Security Service (DSS).
Reports indicate that Dr. Fidel declared himself Acting Director General of NATCOM without proper authorization and is now under investigation.
Dr. Agaba Fidel, who previously served as a Director of NATCOM in Benue State, is accused of unlawfully assuming the position of interim Director General.
Allegedly, he manipulated the process by enticing some suspended state commandants to support his appointment as Acting Director General.
Official sources confirm that Otunba Adejare Adegbenro remains the duly appointed Acting Director General of NATCOM, as chosen by a coalition of 27 State Directors and Zonal Directors.
Dr. Agaba Fidel faces serious allegations, including the sale of fake appointment letters, job racketeering, extortion of innocent job seekers, and defamation of character.
Despite these disruptions, officers are advised to remain hopeful. Otunba Adejare Adegbenro, the legitimate Acting Director General of NATCOM, is committed to collaborating with stakeholders, lawmakers, and the presidency to ensure the continued progress and integrity of the Commission.
