The Founder of Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo Renaissance Project, Mrs. Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo yesterday December 28th, 2021 was honoured by Ogun State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
Temitayo was honoured with “Icon of Humanity” Award in recognition of her contributions towards development of humanity in Ogun State.
Tayo as fondly called by friends, close associates and family is the 6th of 9 surviving children of Late Alhaji Rasak Titiloye Agemo of Iwaye Compound, Idomo Igbesa and Late Mrs Aolat Bosede Agemo of Baase Compound, Totoro, Abeokuta.
Born in England when her parents were students in the United Kingdom, she returned to Nigeria aged 3 with her parents in 1979. Growing up in Agege, she completed her primary school education at Ibukun-Olu Primary school Papa Ashafa, Dopemu Lagos. She attended Jubril Martins High school at Oniwaya in Agege, where she spent the first year of her junior secondary school education before she transferred to Queen’s School Ibadan, following her family’s move to Ibadan.
At her parent’s insistence, she returned to England for her higher education after completing her secondary school education. In England, she obtained a second-class upper degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering from London South Bank University and a Master’s degree in Petroleum engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh in Scotland.
She began her career in reservoir/petroleum engineering as a Graduate Reservoir engineer with ExxonMobil International in Aberdeen, Scotland in 2005 after her master’s degree.
ExxonMobil’s graduate development program included an executive program at London Business School – this program she always insisted changed her outlook and provided a much needed background in business/economics. Tayo successfully accomplished a career in petroleum engineering having successfully managed a portfolio of oil and gas assets ranging from £200M to £1B in her career. Her career in oil & gas spanned employment with ExxonMobil International, Chevron North Sea & Centrica Energy as a graduate engineer, senior reservoir, and senior production engineer.
Desiring a career change after the oil crash in 2016, she joined the UK civil service’s Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in 2018 where she supervised the UK Capacity Market – the UK’s energy policy for securing electricity supply across Great Britain & Northern Ireland alongside managing gas security policy on UK Gas Security & Market Networks.
She currently combines Chief of Staff and Private Secretary roles working for the Chief Executive of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, a sub-department of the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). She is presently completing an Executive Masters in Public Administration at London School of Economics (LSE).
In 2018, following in the footsteps of her parents, she inaugurated Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo Renaissance Project, a social enterprise and her core vehicle for giving back to communities across Ado-Odo/Ota LG. Her belief in the power of education to enlighten, empower and enhance lives drives her and it is the reason why she is focused on funding programs that motivate pursuit of excellence in education from primary through to senior secondary schools.
Tayo is married to Engr Olukayode Okuboyejo and they have two children.
