Elected leaders have been called to ensure the dividends of democracy get to the grassroots in order to make life more comfortable for the ordinary masses in the country.

The convener of Make Ogun State Great Again( MOGA), Pastor Kayode Olawoye made the call in Ota at the inauguration of the group.

Pastor Olawoye said that the elected leaders who hold the mandates of the people should provide the basic amenities such as fixing the bad roads, providing electricity, portable water and other strata of the economy.

He noted that by providing these amenities, Nigerians are not asking for too much, thereby emphasising the needs to be accountable and responsible to the citizen they serve.

Pastor Olawoye charged Nigerians to also play active role at ensuring that the elected leaders keep their promises while in office.

The convener of MOGA said that Nigerians should always hold the government accountable and responsible to ensure that what they promised during campaign are fulfilled while in office.

He pointed out that by holding the president, governors and the lawmakers accountable, Nigerians are performing their constitutional duties as enshrined in section 22 of the 1999 constitution as amended.

According to him” we should hold all our governors accountable and be on their necks so that they can do what we all elected them to do”.

The guest lecturer, the Chairman of Coalition of Civil Society Organisations, ( CSO) in Ogun state, Comrade Solomon Bankole before delivering his lecture expressed disappointment in the role played by the Christian Association of Nigeria( CAN) during the travail of Pastor Olawoye in the hands of Department of State Security Services( DSS), saying that instead of helping the pastor but were rather compounding his problem.

He stressed the need to be our brother’s keeper in all situations because an injury to one, is an injury to all.

In his lecture titled” Simple laws that can take people to prisons”, Comrade Bankole enjoined people to always be cautious and careful in their daily activities because people’s actions or inactions can either make or mar anybody in the society.

Citing the following instances, Ogun state CSO’s chairman noted that people should be wary of simple action that can land them in prisons which include allowing visitors to sleep overnight in ones room, allowing another people to use person’s phone, throwing away used airtime cards without destroying the cards and rendering unsolicited assistance to people.

He said that all the above mentioned instances are very dangerous if any bad things happen.

Concluding his lecture, Comrade Bankole urged everyone to wake up by making Nigeria and especially Ogun state great again, adding that every Nigerian has a duty to hold his leaders accountable.

Some members of the group who spoke at the event assured the convener of MOGA, Pastor Olawoye that they are ready to contribute their quota at ensuring that the state will continue to be the gateway to other states of the federation.
