NANS Lagos JCC Election: Jefren vies to run for Office of General Secretary, promise students struggle and advocacy
Foremost students’ activist, Comrade Adeniyi John Uwala, also known as Jefren, has indicated his interest to run for the office of the General Secretary of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), under the Lagos Joint Campus Council (JCC).
Comrade Jefren, made this known during the pre-convention of the NANS Lagos JCC, held at the Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando, on Thursday 14th of November, 2024. While addressing the newsmen, he said when the need arise for students struggle and advocacy, he is always a call away.
“UWALA ADENIYI JOHN, also known as JEFREN, an egalitarian student leader and a lover of student activism. Hail from the university of first choice and Nation’s pride, University of Lagos (UNILAG).
As a student leader, I have consistently demonstrated willingness to listen, engage and empower others in the best way possible. I possess a unique blend of experience, expertise and passion that makes me the most ideal candidate for this position as far as NANS is concerned.
I find an internally drive and motivation from within me that keeps pushing me to always advocate for students welfarism and full representation. My collaborative approach has earned me widespread of respect and admiration within my institution UNILAG and even far beyond.
“Serving others had always been one of my topmost priorities, this I have portrayed over the years. I have previously served in various students offices with proven track records and still very active as students struggle is concerned. With an unwavering and unrelenting dedication to student advocacy, a proven track record of leadership per excellence, and an insatiable passion for fostering unity, progress, and academic excellence, I have consistently demonstrated my unwavering commitment to serving the student community”.
He added, “having previously held the office of the Director of social and political engagement under SPECIAL DUTIES, NANS SOUTH WEST. I possess the most required knowledge, skills and experience for the course ahead.
“I am delighted to announce my intent for the office of GENERAL SECRETARY OF NANS LAGOS JCC”.
While listing his visions for the students community, he said his visions is for ;
“- A continuous representation and advocacy for all students within Lagos state.
“- Provision of succor to caution examination stress and phobia to indigent students across campuses during examination periods.
“- Advocacy for better academic implementation and performance for all students through constructive dialogue and engagement with school management and students’ union executives.
“- Building a stronger and united relationship among NANS members and community that we all can be proud of regardless of whatever caucus we may belong to.
“Greatest Nigerian Students of NANS JCC Lagos, Senators and leaders, i hereby solicit for your sincere support and endorsement to make this dream a reality”.
