NATCOM Commends Success of Orientation/Awareness Training Across States, Pledges Continued Efforts Towards National Security

The National Commission for the Co-ordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms, Ammunitions and Light Weapons (NATCOM) has lauded the successful completion of its Orientation/Awareness Training programs held in Delta State, Ogun State, the FCT, and various states across the nation.

In a press release from the office of the Acting Director General, Amb. Dr. Otunba Adejare Rewane Adegbenro, commendations were extended to all involved parties for their contributions to the success of the initiative.

The Acting Director General expressed heartfelt appreciation to the planning committee, collaborative partners both local and international, including the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), Community Impact Affinity (CIA), EuroPolice Federation, EmployMeIreti Hope4Jobs, and principal partner ECOWAS.

Additionally, he thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fostering an enabling environment and emphasized the collective commitment to ending insecurity in Nigeria.

Special recognition was extended to Senator Ireti Kingibe for her unwavering support and dedication to youth employment initiatives.

The Acting Director General also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of various safety and security agencies, as well as traditional rulers, whose support ensured the safety and success of the training exercises.

While congratulating participants and management, Amb. Dr. Adegbenro emphasized that this marks only the beginning of NATCOM’s mission to safeguard the nation through effective security intelligence and control of arms proliferation. He urged all staff to uphold discipline and integrity in the discharge of their duties, warning against any acts of indiscipline or breach of trust.

Furthermore, Amb. Dr. Adegbenro expressed gratitude to the legislative arm of the government for their unwavering support in the harmonization of the NATCOM Bill, emphasizing its significance in addressing youth employment and security challenges.

The press release concluded with well wishes for all participants’ safe return to their respective bases and locations, with announcements regarding training in other states to be communicated through official channels in the coming weeks.
