Ogun NAWOJ Passes Vote of Confidence on Chairperson, Financial Secretary

Ogun NAWOJ’s Excos during their meeting held on Friday, January 30, 2026.

Abeokuta, January 30, 2026 – The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ogun State Chapter, has passed a unanimous vote of confidence on its Chairperson, Comrade Sekinat Salam, and the Financial Secretary, Comrade Charity James.

The communiqué issued after the meeting, held at the Press Centre, Okeilewo, Abeokuta, stated:

  • “At a duly convened meeting held on 30th of January, 2026 with executive members, the association deliberated extensively on the affairs, leadership direction, and progress of the association.”
  • “After a thorough review of the activities, programmes, and initiatives of the State Executive Council under the leadership of the Chairperson, Sekinat Salam, members unanimously passed a vote of confidence on her leadership.”

The meeting noted with satisfaction the Chairperson’s:

  • “Demonstrated commitment to the growth and unity of NAWOJ in Ogun State.”
  • “Strong advocacy for gender equity, women empowerment, and child rights.”
  • “Promotion of professionalism, capacity building, and ethical journalism among members.”
  • “Inclusive leadership style, transparency, and accountability in the management of the association.”
  • “Positive representation of NAWOJ Ogun State at both national and inter-organisational engagements.”

Executive members further acknowledged:

  • “The visible progress recorded by the association under her stewardship, particularly in strengthening institutional cohesion, enhancing public visibility, and deepening NAWOJ’s relevance in societal development discourse within Ogun State.”

Consequently, the communiqué reaffirmed:

  • “NAWOJ Ogun State Chapter reaffirms its unwavering support and confidence in the Chairperson and urges her to continue in her commitment to purposeful leadership in the best interest of the association and the society at large.”

It also called for unity among members:

  • “The association also calls on all members to remain united, supportive, and steadfast as the current leadership continues to advance the ideals and objectives of NAWOJ.”

The communiqué was unanimously adopted by executive members present and duly signed on January 30, 2026.
