The Ogun State Chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Hon. Olujobi Fayoyin, has criticized the recent visit of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of Nigeria, to the United Kingdom, describing the trip as a demonstration of insensitivity by the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the current economic hardship facing Nigerians.
Fayoyin, in a reaction made available to journalists, said the administration led by President Tinubu had failed to deliver on the promises it made to Nigerians during the electioneering campaign.
According to him, the economic policies and decisions of the APC-led government have worsened the living conditions of ordinary citizens, leaving many Nigerians struggling to cope with rising costs of living.
The NRM chairman argued that embarking on foreign trips at a time when many Nigerians are battling severe economic challenges sends the wrong signal about the priorities of the government.

He said the visit to the United Kingdom also contradicts ongoing calls across the country for public officials to cut down on what he described as wasteful government spending.
Fayoyin noted that Nigerians had expected the government to demonstrate greater prudence and empathy by focusing on policies and actions that would directly ease the hardship faced by citizens rather than engaging in activities perceived as unnecessary government expenditure.
“The present administration of the APC has not lived up to the expectations of Nigerians. At a time when citizens are grappling with economic hardship, embarking on foreign trips portrays insensitivity to the plight of the people,” he said.
The Ogun NRM chairman further called on the people of the state and Nigerians at large to begin preparing for the next general elections by supporting alternative political platforms capable of delivering better governance.
He urged voters to reject the ruling party at the polls, stating that voting out the APC would provide an opportunity for the emergence of a government that would prioritize the welfare and economic wellbeing of Nigerians.
Fayoyin expressed confidence that the National Rescue Movement offers a credible alternative that could reposition the country on the path of development and restore hope among citizens.
He therefore appealed to residents of Ogun State and Nigerians nationwide to remain politically conscious and actively participate in the democratic process to ensure what he described as a better future for the country.
