Hon. Farouk Akintunde, Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Environment Protection Agency (OGEPA), has extended Easter greetings to Christian faithful across the state while advocating for environmentally-conscious celebrations.
In his Easter message, the environmental chief urged residents to shun improper waste disposal and other practices that could degrade the environment during the festive period. He emphasized that maintaining clean surroundings remains crucial for public health and sustainable development.
“While we rejoice in the resurrection of Christ, we must remember our responsibility to preserve our environment,” Akintunde stated. “I implore all citizens to celebrate responsibly by properly disposing waste and keeping our communities clean.”

The OGEPA boss assured that environmental officers would be on the ground to monitor compliance with sanitation laws, warning that defaulters would face appropriate sanctions. He wished all residents a peaceful celebration while reiterating Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The advisory comes as Ogun State prepares for increased human and vehicular movements during the Easter holidays, with corresponding expectations of higher waste generation across communities.
