

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight suspects for breach of public peace, unlawful assembly, obstruction of traffic, and assault on police officers during a disturbance in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, on Christmas Day.
According to the Command’s PPRO, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the incident occurred on December 25, 2025, at Temidire Junction and Under-Bridge, where a group operating under the name “Democratic Republic of the Yoruba” barricaded roads, set bonfires, disrupted traffic, and attacked police officers deployed to restore order.
Items recovered from the suspects included a Toyota Dyna vehicle, two broadcast speakers, flags, shirts bearing inscriptions of their agitation, and banners displaying their messages and manifesto. The Command confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.

The Command’s PPRO on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, reiterated the commitment of the police to safeguarding lives and property, warning that any assault on officers or acts capable of breaching public peace will be met with decisive action.
