The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised an alarm over an alleged plot by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to subvert and disrupt the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collection exercise commencing across the state today.
In a statement issued on Friday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Arc. Otunba Kayode Adebayo, the PDP claimed it had received credible intelligence indicating plans by the ruling party to deploy hired thugs to collection centers across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to the party, the objective of the alleged plot is to create chaos at collection centers, intimidate registered voters, and forcibly cart away PVCs belonging to innocent citizens.
“The PDP views this alleged plot, if true, as not only an egregious assault on our democratic ethos but also a brazen subversion of the constitutional and fundamental right of the citizenry to freely participate in the electoral process,” the statement read.

Addressing the authorities, the opposition party called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain strict vigilance and ensure all collection points are fully secured.
The PDP also appealed to security agencies—including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)—to provide airtight security across all centers, urging them to arrest and prosecute anyone attempting to disrupt the exercise.
In addition, the party charged residents of Ogun State to stand firm, safeguard their voter cards, and promptly report any suspicious activity to INEC officials or security personnel.
Reaffirming its commitment to a peaceful, credible, and transparent electoral process leading up to the 2027 general elections, the PDP emphasized that no political party should be permitted to deny citizens their right to vote.
