The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has taken its presidential and National Assembly campaign to Ogun West Senatorial District, with the party promising to eradicate poverty, revive the economy and make life easier for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A massive crowd of PDP supporters and residents turned out on Wednesday as the campaign train moved through major towns across the three federal constituencies in Ogun West.
The campaign, led by the party’s Ogun State governorship candidate, Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu, who represented the PDP presidential candidate, Professor Sandy Onor, also featured the party’s Ogun West Senatorial Candidate, Honourable Babatunde Ogunola, popularly known as Tomo, and its House of Representatives candidates.
Speaking during the campaign, Adebutu called on Nigerians to pray for peace, economic recovery and the emergence of credible leaders, blaming the current economic hardship on what he described as “wrong decisions by political leaders.”
He said the PDP presidential candidate, Sandy Onor, is prepared to “restore hope and prosperity to Nigerians,” urging the people to support leaders capable of transforming the country.
The campaign first moved to Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, where residents lined the streets to welcome the party leaders. The constituency’s House of Representatives candidate, Engr. Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo, alongside Ogun West senatorial candidate Babatunde Ogunola, assured residents of purposeful representation and grassroots development.
Earlier, Adebutu had met with over forty groups, including artisans, religious leaders and socio-cultural organisations.
The campaign train later moved to Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, where another large crowd welcomed the delegation in Ilaro.
The party presented Honourable Tade Afolabi as its House of Representatives candidate for the constituency, while party leaders urged voters to support candidates with proven track records to “bring the dividends of democracy back to the district.”
The final leg of the campaign took place in Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, where thousands of supporters gathered to receive the delegation.
The party officially presented its presidential candidate, Professor Sandy Onor, Ogun West Senatorial Candidate Honourable Babatunde Ogunola, and House of Representatives candidate for Yewa North/Imeko-Afon, Honourable Ogunbona Ajibola Daniel.
Addressing the gathering, PDP leaders urged residents to “turn out en masse on election day, vote for the PDP across all levels, protect their votes and reject political intimidation.”
Responding, residents and community leaders pledged their support for the party and assured the candidates of their “maximum support” at the polls.
