Odunlami, the publisher of Nigeria’s alerting news website, Newsjaunts, has formally issued a retraction concerning previously published claims about Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO).
The retraction pertains to Newsjaunts’ earlier publication from 16th September, 2024, titled ‘’GTBank Faces Internal Crisis As EFCC, FIRS Investigate Alleged False Profit Declaration.’’ Upon review, the publication was found to be unsubstantiated, misleading, and inaccurate.
In light of further verification, Newsjaunts confirms that GTCO’s quarterly financial reports underwent proper auditing, approval, and certification by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as well as other recognized regulatory institutions.
Expressing regret over the misinformation, Newsjaunts has urged the public to disregard the previously published report. “We have since extended our formal apology to the management and staff of GTCO,” Odunlami stated.
This retraction highlights growing concerns over the impact of false financial information on corporate reputation and investor confidence.
