Sen. Shuaibu Salisu Powers up Ogun NUJ secretariat 2

The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial, Hon. Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, on Friday commissioned 12kw 48v/200A Solar Power System and Street Lights at the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) secretariat Iwe-iroyin, Abeokuta, the state capital.

He expressed readiness to give maximum publicity to all projects executed in Ogun central Senatorial district. Shuaibu, however stated that he regretted of not commissioning and publicizing his people-oriented projects since he came into office in 2023.

Salisu, who mentioned projects including Solar Power System, roads, street lights, Community LCD Centre, laptops and books, math sets to students of secondary schools in the state, lamented that some of his projects were hijacked because he did not commissioned or publicised them to the public.

He expressed remorse that he treated his projects as church or Mosque projects without commissioning them because he did not want to make it known to the public, insisting that he had changed and would start publicising any project done to his constituency.

The Senator, who thanked the state chapter of NUJ for inducting him as a member and patron of the union, said he was ready to work with the council over continuous publicity of his projects, while urging the union to make judicious use of the Solar power and Street lights, assuring that he would ensure a proper maintenance of the facility.

He said” While today is very emotional for me, I have done 10 projects. I have built boreholes, I done roads, I have done Solar Power, this is the first  time i will be commissioning any of the project i have done and the same NUJ Secretariat that I came as underdog I have come here to be celebrated and have the honour to be inducted as honorary member of NUJ and the patron of this organization.”

“I will continue to fulfill my electioneering campaign promises. I have built road at FUNAAB. I want to be known as a senator who made a promise and fulfil the promise. I will continue to live to promises. We are not people of resources but we have what resources cannot buy, we are resourceful, we may not have access to material resources in large quantities but God has giving us endowment when we are coming and that endowment is materials is more than

“Today, we have done something that is different, something that is not just for immediate applaud, something that is going to last for a very long time and I will continue to support the maintenance of this project. I have learnt a few lessons. I used to treat my projects as if it was a Church or Mosque affairs, what your right hand does your left hand don’t need to know, and I usually hear people say Omoyayi is not doing anything even the projects I have done, somebody else  take over it i don’t care, but now I care.”

“I did the FUNAAB road. I did not commission it, I did a community LCD centre at technical college Idi-Aba, I did not commission it, I did a solar power borehole at Onikolobo, i did not commission it, I installed   street lights at  Ori-Omi, Ewekoro, Agbado at the train station and i also did the same thing at Odeda township did commission it, my team know i am a covert. i do and i tell and i am going to start at NUJ Secretariat.” he added

Earlier, the State Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju thanked the Senator for providing the Solar Power System and Street Lights, saying that facilities would go a long way to address the problems of epileptic power supply at the union’s secretariat.

“Ogun NUJ has been experiencing interrupted power supply and this is the first in the 37 councils we have in Nigeria. The Solar light is important in harnessing renewable energy for betterment of our council” the Chairman stated.
