Seun Kuti, MOP Legal Team, Others Now To Visit Lagos Police Command

LAGOS – Contrary to an earlier arrangement, the Afrobeat star, Seun Kuti, who was scheduled to meet with police authorities at Panti, Lagos, with the Movement of the People’s (MOP) legal team and activists, will now be heading for the State Police Command in Ikeja.

An MOP source who pleaded anonymity told Newsjaunts on Tuesday morning on phone that the team would be meeting with the top police chiefs at the Command.

Although the source could not say the reasons for the last-minute change of plan, he disclosed that the MOP team was already on their way to the command headquarters in the company of Seun Kuti.

He said the mission of the delegation to the Police Command was to find out from the authorities why there had been a security siege to his residence since last Friday.

A source, however, told Newsjaunts that the police officers who visited Seun Kuti’s residence had stated that their action was as a result of a purported report in the social media that the Afrobeat star cum political activist was allegedly threatening people with firearms, an allegation the source said was funny.

Seun Kuti, founder of the Nigerian Resistance Movement (NRM), and some activists and youth groups had been mobilising Nigerians for active participation for future political leadership.

Already, they had floated the MOP as a rallying point for the move which was expected to birth a popular masses-oriented political party that might present candidates for the 2023 general elections.
