Sir, We complain of our leader’s deficiencies, yet we give them wings to fly. Showering undue encomiums and underserved eulogies makes them feel on top of the world. They begin to bask in the euphoria of doing things that they naturally should as favours for the masses.

The masses in turn in ignorance will sing hosanna to their names. Information they say is key and knowledge is power. The media is meant to serve this purpose; it’s the platform through which the electorates can know their rights and privileges. It’s however unfortunate that some journalists as turned themselves to sycophants, selling their writing and gifts of use of language and diction to this desperate politicians. We elect these people in to offices for crying out loud. When did award of scholarship for my academic pursuit by my governor turned to favour. It’s a privilege.

A local government chairman donating chairs and tables to be used in classrooms or a senator who present transformer to people of his districts. Now it’s reported as a gesture, nonsense! When elections are near those we elected will begin to propel us to pay our tax and fulfill other duties so they can run another election with the money meant to provide amenities for all. Yet journalist assist them to report their evil plans and deeds, we must stop this if we must grow to have a better Nigeria.

Journalists, please your major duties are to report, correct, and educate the populace then do it without necessarily apportioning undue applause to those we elected to serve us, so that they can be challenged to do what is right at the right time for us to have a better nation called Nigeria.

It’s the responsibility of my governor to take care our needs. Your press secretary must inform us adequately. This way well knows our rights. Well no longer be bamboozled with unnecessary gifts. Things we deserve should not be given to us as favour. I have my responsibility and my governor does.

Conversely, most movie film producers and Nowadays songs producers are not helping the situation in anyway because most of the films produced in Nigeria is tend towards informing or educating on how to perpetrate one evil acts or the other like vulgarism, domestic violence, deception, hatred, pride, prostitution, corruption, violation, oppression, tribalism, malpractices, manipulations, forgery, thuggery, and more, instead of them to educate on cultural, societal and democratic values, morality, how to secure themselves and express love, unity and peace; good governance, dexterity, sincerity, self reliance, profiting principles, pragmatism, patriotism and more.

Oh! What ever you give the society is what you will get from it. I quote, “Give whatever you expect to get from your country, if you don’t it would tell on your descendant” So, enough is enough; let us stop the wrong doing. If we think as journalists, movie and song producers we are not affected by these things, it would some day boomerang.

Tunde Eso, a journalist, National President of Fix Nigeria Group and Originator of Youthocracy-a new system of government.
