The Ogun State Government has unveiled an artificial intelligence-driven teaching and learning platform, OgunLEARN, in a bold move to modernise classroom instruction, improve teacher effectiveness, and bridge educational gaps between urban and rural schools.
Governor Dapo Abiodun launched the platform at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, during a one-day workshop attended by public secondary school principals, school portal administrators, and executives of Subject Teachers’ Associations across the state.
Speaking at the event, the governor described the initiative as a landmark step in repositioning education in Ogun. “Education is the foundation of a strong society. Every child, regardless of background, deserves access to quality learning. OgunLEARN represents our commitment to leveraging technology to deliver inclusive, future-ready education,” he said.

Abiodun explained that the platform would provide comprehensive lesson resources and interactive learning support for students, while enabling performance tracking more efficiently. He added that OgunLEARN would promote creativity, digital thinking, and self-paced learning, noting: “Today, OgunLEARN reflects our firm belief that every child, regardless of location or background, deserves access to quality education enhanced by technology.”

The governor highlighted that the initiative is part of the broader Education Digital Transformation Agenda (OGSERA), which embraces technology to strengthen institutions, empower teachers, and improve learning outcomes. He pointed to the Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DIPER) as one of the state’s flagship achievements, saying: “DIPER has brought transparency, efficiency and real-time data into school administration, making evidence-based decision-making the norm.”
He further noted that Ogun State has become a national reference point in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and pioneered the Learner Identification Number (LIN) system, now adopted nationally as the Examination Learner Identification Number (ELIN). “This is a clear testament that Ogun State is leading in education innovation,” Abiodun said.
The governor also listed several complementary initiatives, including Ogun Skills Fund to drive employability, Ogun Educash and Ogun Scholar to promote access and equity, Ogun-Rehab to modernise school infrastructure, Ogun Teach to strengthen teacher quality, and Ogun-DIPER to enhance transparency and efficiency. “Collectively, these initiatives represent a deliberate system reform agenda that places learners, teachers and outcomes at the centre,” he added.
Governor Abiodun concluded by affirming that education remains the strongest legacy of his administration. “Through initiatives like OgunLEARN, we are confidently building our future together,” he declared.
Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, said the platform would provide teachers with AI-powered lesson notes, enabling them to focus more on pedagogy, creativity, and student engagement. “OgunLEARN will ensure that learners in underserved communities have access to the same quality of materials available in urban centres. It is a tool to enhance, not replace, teachers, ensuring equity, quality and inclusiveness across all schools, including special needs institutions,” he explained.

He recalled how the state leveraged technology during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure uninterrupted learning, noting that OgunLEARN consolidates Ogun’s leadership in the education sector.
Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Joshua Ifede, described the AI-powered platform as “the future of education” and urged teachers to fully utilise its capabilities.
School administrators also welcomed the initiative. The Principal of Abeokuta Grammar School Junior, Mr. Faleti Olushina, said: “The platform will ease lesson preparation and guarantee a more consistent and high-quality learning experience for students.”
