The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Chief Toyin Amuzu, has pledged to remain accountable and accessible to his constituents if elected.
Amuzu, popularly known as TA, made the promise while addressing residents of Igbore community, Abeokuta, where he urged them to support all PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He appealed to voters to back the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, his running mate, Alhaja Lateefat Kolapo Sowunmi, Ogun Central senatorial candidate, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, himself for the House of Representatives and the party’s two House of Assembly candidates, Olufunbi Majekodunmi and Adeoye Adewale Adeniran.
Amuzu said he would clearly distinguish between his personal projects and government-funded projects facilitated through his office, assuring residents that he would not take credit for government interventions.
He also promised regular meetings and interactive sessions with constituents to enable him understand their needs and monitor the impact of his representation.
The Deputy Director-General of the Abeokuta South Campaign Council, Hon. Olanrewaju Sowunmi, commended Amuzu for his commitment to the people, noting that he had contributed to community development despite not holding elective office.
Sowunmi, however, criticised the current political leadership, accusing those in authority of disappointing the people through poor performance.
The organiser of the meeting, Mr Abdul Lateef Ogunmuyiwa, said he had become sceptical of politicians because of unfulfilled promises, but described Amuzu as sincere and humble.
Ogunmuyiwa pledged to mobilise support for Amuzu’s election.
As part of his commitment to the community, Amuzu promised to provide a borehole for residents of Igbore.
The PDP chairman, Hon. Sakiru Sanusi, thanked the residents for their support and acceptance, assuring them that the party had presented experienced, tested and trusted candidates who would not disappoint them.
