The Ogun State Football Association has placed a two year ban on one Mr. Joseph Jamiu Makinde popularly known as JAMAK, and Mr. Ajani Rasaq Opadiran popularly known as “Gbeke” for assaulting match officials at the MKO Abiola stadium, Abeokuta on Saturday.

The FA also condemned in strong words the show of shame witnessed at the sports venue at the end of the game, describing it as Barbaric, uncalled for and irresponsible.

At the end of a Nigeria National League (NNL) clash between Gateway United Football Club and Ikorodu City from Lagos which ended 0-0, Ajani Rasaq Opadiran (Gbeke) threw caution to the wind and assaulted the Centre referee.

Mr. Jamiu Makinde (JAMAK), also joined the dastardly act and brought the game into disrepute.

It took the intervention of the security operatives provided by the Ogun State Football Association to tame the miscreants and avoid casualties.

The Chairman of Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi who is also an Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), made it known that investigation has been conducted, and findings revealed that “Gbeke” led the attack in company of his partner.

To this end, the pair have been banned from entering match venues across the state for the next two years, a comprehensive report will also be submitted to the Police Headquarters explaining why they are threats at sport venues.

Mr Opadiran (Gbeke) has already been arrested, while Jamiu Makinde is currently at large.
