Team Ogun State male and female cricket teams have made it to the semifinals of the T20 version of the sports at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival tagged Gateway games. The two host teams made the progress on Thursday after respective victories. The male team, led by its skipper Seasan Adedeji, defeated Team Zamfara after a 9 wickets win. Ogun State government, on Tuesday, assured athletes participating in the National Sports Festival holding in Abeokuta, as well as the residents of the state, of their safety, following a diesel tanker explosion near Alake’s Sports Complex, one of the facilities used for the ongoing Sports Festival. The National Sports Commission, NSC, has cautioned that registered athletes with antidoping issues cannot compete for scoring medals at the ongoing National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games 2024.
