Bosede Idehen International Academy/Springfield Private School: 50 Years of Growth, Legacy, and Educational Excellence 2

The 50th Anniversary celebration of Bosede Idehen International Academy/Springfield Private School (BIIA/SPS) was more than a milestone — it was a testament to the school’s steady growth, unwavering vision, and lasting impact in shaping young minds for half a century.

Founded in 1975 by the late Mrs. Bosede Idehen, an outstanding educationist and community leader, the school has evolved from a small learning centre into one of the most respected educational institutions in Lagos State. Her legacy of discipline, excellence, and compassion remains the foundation on which the school stands.

Today, that vision continues to grow under the dynamic leadership of Mrs. Maureen Idehen Ovabor (RPh), a U.S.-based pharmacist and education advocate. Her passion for quality education and community development has brought renewed energy and innovation to the school, positioning it for greater achievements in the years ahead.

The Golden Jubilee Celebration — themed “A Journey of Legacy, Excellence, and Growth” — spanned seven days of inspiring and community-centered activities. From free medical outreaches and community services to inter-school games, debate competitions, and alumni reunions, each event showcased the school’s holistic approach to education — nurturing the mind, body, and spirit.

Speaking during the grand finale, Mrs. Maureen Idehen Ovabor expressed her deep appreciation to the staff, management, and community for their contributions to the school’s success.

“This celebration is not just about the past; it’s about our commitment to the future. My mother’s vision laid the foundation, and we are building upon it with modern teaching standards, digital learning integration, and renewed community engagement,” she said.

The Chairman of the Occasion, Chief Dan Ovabora, praised the school for its outstanding contribution to education and development in Alimosho, noting that the journey of 50 years has transformed Abule Egba and surrounding communities. He commended the management for maintaining high standards and urged continued innovation to meet the evolving educational landscape.

In its commitment to inclusive education, Springfield Private School and Bosede Idehen International Academy has introduced a remarkable new initiative — the Special Education Needs (SEN) Department. This development reflects the school’s philosophy that no child should be left behind.

“Special Care for Special Minds! Every child can learn, just not in the same way,” the school’s statement reads. “At SPS & BIIA, we believe that every child is gifted — they only open their gifts at different times and in different ways. Our inclusive learning environment is built on love, patience, and understanding. We provide personalised support, specialised instruction, and a nurturing space where children with special needs can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.”

The SEN Department is fully equipped with modern learning tools and facilities tailored to meet the unique needs of children with developmental or learning challenges. The school is now enrolling special needs learners, reaffirming its mission to ensure that every child, regardless of ability, is given the opportunity to excel — academically and beyond.

Over the years, Bosede Idehen International Academy/Springfield Private School has produced exceptional graduates who now serve as leaders, professionals, and innovators across various sectors. Its blend of Nigerian and American curricula provides students with a balanced education that prepares them for global opportunities.

As the school celebrates this Golden Jubilee, it also unveils its next phase of growth — one focused on technology-driven learning, inclusive education, character development, and global competitiveness. The vision is clear: to build a generation of responsible leaders who will make meaningful contributions to society.

The 50th Anniversary not only marked five decades of success but also the dawn of a new era of innovation, inclusivity, and transformation. Bosede Idehen International Academy/Springfield Private School stands tall as a beacon of hope, a center of knowledge, and a true legacy of growth — a school where every child matters, and every learner thrives.
