

ABEOKUTA – In recognition of his unwavering support and dedication to the growth of the Muslim community across Egbaland, prominent politician and philanthropist, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, was today conferred with an Award of Excellence by the Egba Muslim Community.
The prestigious event was graced by top-tier traditional rulers, including the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, and the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Oba Professor Adegboyega Matemilola. Speaking at the event, the revered monarchs praised Hon. Adebutu for his enduring impact on community development, social infrastructure, and the promotion of religious harmony in Ogun State.
In a major highlight of the ceremony, Hon. Adebutu announced a fresh donation of ₦100 million towards the ongoing expansion of the Egba Central Mosque in Kobiti, Abeokuta.
The funds are specifically designated for the construction of eight new buildings to facilitate the relocation and resettlement of residents affected by the mosque’s expansion project. This gesture reinforces Adebutu’s long-standing commitment to the historical religious monument and the welfare of the host community.
Inspired by Adebutu’s philanthropic leadership, members of his entourage and political associates also made significant financial commitments to the mosque project, bringing the day’s total donations to over ₦123 million.
The breakdown of the additional donations includes:
- Hon. Femi Omotayo (OmoOwo): ₦10 million
- Arc. Oladele Olaleye: ₦5 million
- Alhaja Dr. Lateefat Oyeyemi Kolapo (Iya Sunnah of Egbaland): ₦5 million
- Alhaji Semiu Sodipo: ₦1 million
- Alhaji Abiola Salau: ₦1 million
- Hon. Tobi Shodipe: ₦1 million
“Today’s recognition is yet another affirmation that true leadership is measured not only by words, but by a sustained commitment to uplifting communities, supporting noble causes, and impacting lives positively,” an attendee noted.
The leadership of the Egba Muslim Community expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Adebutu and his team, praying for his continued success and acknowledging that his contributions will leave an indelible mark on the landscape of Egbaland for generations to come.
