ABAKALIKI – A 20-year-old girl, Chinenye (surname withheld) has accused one Emeka Chukwuani, 39-year-old man, of raping her, biting her private part and ear, while trying to overpower her to commit the act.

The victim, Newsjaunts gathered, was on her way home alongside her younger sister at about 8.30 am on Saturday, when the rapist accosted them and snatched her phone along Onwe Road and ran into a recreational centre in Fatilami Park, Abakaliki.

Some of the rapist’s bite marks over Chinenye’s body.

Chinenye, who said she ran after the rapist in a bid to recover her phone, revealed that she was subdued and raped inside the Park.

Narrating her ordeal, Chineye, told newsjaunts, on Wednesday, in Abakaliki, that “I was going home with my younger sister. That was around 8.30 pm. We saw this man on the way. He stopped and wanted to talk to us, but we continued to move. He followed us and snatched my phone and ran into Fatilami Park.

“We ran after him to give us our phone. Immediately we got to the photo stand, he grabbed my neck and we began to struggle. As we struggled, he was biting me everywhere including my private part, my ear, my cheek, my shoulder, my back and somewhere.

“My sister was shouting but nobody was there to help us. When my sister was trying to draw him away from my body, he broke a bottle on her head and she ran outside crying, while I was shouting inside. It was when he hit my mouth with the bottle that I became somehow unconscious and I woke later to see he had raped me.

“I was surprised when I heard gunshots and two persons came inside. He tried to run away but they apprehended him. That’s when I realized they were police officers. They saved me and my sister.”
