RMAFC Urges Closer Collaboration With Revenue Regulatory Agencies

Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has called for increased collaboration and cooperation from revenue regulatory agencies to enhance revenue accruals to the federation account.

The Chairman of the commission, Mr Elias Mbam made the call in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Nwachukwu Christian.

Mbam was quoted as making the call at a stakeholders meeting with the heads of the revenue regulatory agencies in Abuja.

He said that the meeting was necessary to familiarise regulatory agencies on the mandate and activities of the commission.

The chairman also said it would enable agencies to seek for collaboration with the commission particularly on its ongoing exercise on Reconciliation of Revenue Remittances into the Federation Account from Jan. 1, 2016 to Dec. 31, 2019.

“It is the responsibility of the commission to monitor all the accruals of revenue to and from the federation account while blocking leakages,” he said.

Mbam also said the commission had engaged the services of consultants to achieve the desired goal during the exercise.

He added that the commission collaborated with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the exercise.

The chairman recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari charged the commission to use all legal means to strengthen its monitoring mechanism and block leakages of revenues to the federation account.

“In pursuit of this and to ensure optimal results, the commission deems it necessary to fully collaborate with all the regulatory agencies of revenue collecting agencies,” he said.

He further called on the heads of the revenue regulatory agencies to ensure that agencies under them cooperate with the consultants by releasing their books and records to enable monitoring of the exercise.
