LG Election: Ijebu North APC Youths Admolish Ogun SSG Against Imposition of Mobolaji Odusanya as Chairmanship Candidate
Share0Abeokuta, Ogun State, 3rd September 2024 – Some youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijebu North Local Government have expressed strong opposition to the alleged imposition of Hon. Mobolaji Odusanya as the chairmanship candidate by the Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi.
Addressing news men in Abeokuta, the aggrieved youths from ward one to six led by Mr. Kamoru Adeoye voiced their displeasure over Mr. Talabi’s purported plan to handpick Hon. Odusanya as the consensus candidate. This move, they argue, contradicts the directives of Governor Dapo Abiodun, who has emphasized that disloyal party members should not be considered for any elective positions in the upcoming local government elections.
The youths highlighted that Hon. Odusanya was among the 17 council chairmen, including Wale Adedayo, who accused Governor Abiodun of embezzling local government allocations.
Furthermore, Odusanya was noted as one of the chairmen who rejected the official vehicles provided by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The youths warns that Mr. Talabi’s actions could lead to an intractable crisis in Ijebu North, urging Governor Abiodun and other political leaders to intervene.
The stakeholders are calling for direct primaries to allow all interested candidates to test their popularity and acceptability among party members.
“We say NO to the imposition of candidates by Ogun SSG, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi,” stakeholders concludes, reflecting the strong sentiment among the party’s grassroots members.
When contacted, the Media Officer of the SSG Mr. Odunayo, said the allegation can’t be true because the “SSG is a man who stands with democracy”. He promised to get feed this medium back.
