The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Chief Bukola Olopade, has emphasized the crucial role of sports writers in ensuring the success of the 22nd National Sports Festival.

He made this assertion during a strategic meeting with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Hon. Commissioner for Sports Development, Wasiu Isiaka and members of the Ogun State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

Held at the Ministry of Sports Development conference room in Abeokuta, the meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between the NSC, LOC, and sports writers.

He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration for demonstrating a strong commitment to sports development through the provision of state-of-the-art facilities across various venues.

The NSC Director General noted that the upgrading and construction of sports infrastructure had not only enhanced the festival experience but also created jobs for over 10,000 people, particularly youths.

The Executive Secretary of the LOC, Dr. Kweku Tandoh, reassured sports writers of the LOC’s commitment to making the festival a success, while urging all stakeholders to contribute their quota to the success of the games.

The Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Media Strategy, Chief Kayode Akinmade, was also in attendance, underscoring the state government’s dedication to the event.

The Chairman of the Ogun State Chapter of SWAN, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, expressed gratitude to the NSC and LOC for recognizing the importance of Sports writers.

Ogunsiji said, “We are proud to partner with the Ogun State government and the LOC to make this festival a success. We will continue to showcase the state’s preparations and ensure that the nation and the world see the greatness of Ogun State.”
