Orishabuyi Oluwafemi Joshua
The newly sworn-in Chairman of Federated Chapel of the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Orishabuyi Oluwafemi Joshua, has pledged to run an inclusive and transparent administration focused on members’ welfare, unity and professional development.
Joshua made the commitment during his swearing-in ceremony, where he described his emergence as a call to service and assured members that he would lead with humility, courage, fairness and dedication.
According to the press release by the newly sworn-in Chairman, he said his administration would operate an open-door policy, ensuring that every member had an opportunity to contribute to the affairs of the chapel.
Other executive members elected to steer the affairs of the chapel include Idris Oderinde as vice Chairman, Babalola Gafar Secretary, Osoba Olajide as Financial Secretary, Yusuf Adeleke as Treasurer, and Fatai Sobande as Auditor.
He also promised to priorities members’ welfare through advocacy, capacity building, professional advancement, networking and other initiatives aimed at improving their working lives.
Oluwafemi urged members to embrace unity and mutual respect, stressing that disagreements should not be allowed to undermine the collective strength of the chapel.
Joshua further pledged to uphold transparency and accountability in the administration of the chapel, saying members deserved to know how the organisation was being managed.
He also appealed to the leadership of the Ogun State NUJ Council to extend the ongoing revalidation exercise to enable members, particularly those from Ogun West and some parts of Ogun Central, who were yet to complete the process, to participate fully in the affairs of the union.
The chairman called on members to support his administration with ideas, constructive criticism and cooperation, stressing that the task of building a stronger chapel could not be achieved by the chairman alone.
He expressed appreciation to the Oluomo of Yewa Land and Chief Executive Officer of IBD Impex and Hotel Alhaji,Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun for his moral and financial support, as well as the Ogun NUJ Chairman, Comrade Victor Olanrewaju, and other members of the council’s executive for their support.
Joshua assured members that his administration would work towards a more united, welfare-driven, professional and respected Federated Chapel.
