The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has inaugurated two new national officers and two special advisers from Zone B (Southwest zone), during its ongoing National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Kano State.

From the Ogun State Council, Mr. James Sowole was sworn in as National Ex-Officio for Zone B, while Mr. Seye Ojo from Oyo Council will serve as a Zonal Trustee. Both now hold positions as members of the NUJ National Executive Council.

In addition, Mrs. Deola Ekinne, a former Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Lagos, has been appointed Special Adviser on Women Affairs to the NUJ National President, while the President also named Mr. Rotimi Ojomoyela, former Chairman of the Ekiti State Council, as Special Adviser on Labour Matters.

In his remarks, the President, Yahya congratulated the appointees and urged them to bring their wealth of professional experience to bear in their new roles, noting that their expertise would strengthen the union’s leadership at the national level.

The Zonal Vice President for Zone B, Princess Ronke Afebioye Samo, also extended her felicitations, describing the four appointees as “the right peg in a round hole” and expressed confidence in their ability to excel.

The inauguration marks another step in the NUJ’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its leadership structure and enhance representation across the six zones, with the newly appointed officers expected to play key roles in advancing the union’s mission.
