AGO-IWOYE, OGUN STATE — In a significant combination of youth empowerment and grassroots political mobilisation, the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Housing, OPIC and Special Projects, Arc (Prince) Farooq Adenugba, on Friday, August 28, 2026, counselled secondary school students in Ijebu North State Constituency II to embrace resilience and seize life-changing opportunities, before formally inaugurating his political team with a charge to strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The day’s engagements, which took place in Ago-Iwoye, brought together youth development, mentorship, community leadership, and political organisation, underscoring Adenugba’s emerging strategy of combining human-capital development with structured grassroots political participation.
The first engagement was the special counselling and mentorship session organised by the Prince Segun Kaka Foundation (PSK) in collaboration with the Academic Excellence Initiative (AEI), Ijebu Zone, at the Imososi Primary School Hall, Ago-Iwoye.
The programme, hosted by Hon. Segun Kaka, Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ijebu North State Constituency II, was themed “Failing Forward.”
Addressing the students, Prince Adenugba challenged them to change their perception of failure and setbacks, urging them to see difficulties as opportunities for learning, improvement, and eventual success.
He emphasised that academic excellence, discipline, perseverance, character, and the courage to pursue opportunities would remain critical to their future success.
“A setback should never become a full stop in your life. Failure can become a teacher if you are determined to learn from it and move forward,” Adenugba told the students.
He urged the young participants to take their education seriously, identify their talents, develop useful skills, and remain focused despite the challenges they might encounter.
According to him, society must deliberately create platforms where young people can interact with experienced leaders, gain knowledge, and develop the confidence required to compete successfully in an increasingly demanding world.
The mentorship programme consequently became more than an academic counselling session, as Adenugba used his experience in public service to expose the students to the realities of leadership, career development, perseverance, and purposeful living.
Barely hours after the youth-focused engagement, attention shifted to the political arena as the Prince Farooq Adenugba Political Team (PFA Political Team) held its inaugural and first formal meeting at the Palace of Ebumawe, Ago-Iwoye.
The meeting marked the official commencement of the political structure and was convened to establish a functional framework for coordination, grassroots engagement, and political mobilisation.
The inauguration is coming at a politically strategic period, with political activities and alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections increasingly taking centre stage across Ogun State.
Members of the team were charged to build a disciplined, united, and result-oriented structure capable of effectively engaging the grassroots and complementing the efforts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the local and state levels.
The PFA Political Team leadership stressed that the structure was not designed to operate in isolation from the party but to complement the party’s grassroots machinery through organised engagement, mobilisation, and effective communication
Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening relationships with ward-level stakeholders, youths, community leaders, political actors, and other relevant groups across Ijebu North and beyond.
The team also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the broader political direction of the APC in Ogun State and contributing to the mobilisation required to secure victory for the party and its candidates in 2027.
With the growing political significance of the 2027 gubernatorial contest, the team is expected to play a role in grassroots mobilisation and advocacy in support of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun aspiration to represent Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) and the APC’s broader electoral agenda.
Political observers at the meeting described the inauguration as timely, particularly as the next election cycle will require sustained grassroots contact rather than last-minute mobilisation.
The leadership of the PFA Team emphasised that political victory would depend on structures that could translate political support into organised grassroots action.
“2027 will not be won by noise or slogans alone. It will be won through organisation, constant engagement, unity, and the ability to reach the people at the grassroots,” the leadership told members.
Members were consequently urged to work as a coordinated team, avoid unnecessary divisions, and place the collective political objective above personal interests.
The team also resolved to strengthen its communication channels, improve grassroots intelligence gathering, and maintain regular engagement with communities as part of its long-term mobilisation strategy.
As the political environment gradually gathers momentum towards 2027, the PFA Political Team has pledged to remain focused on grassroots mobilisation, internal coordination, and constructive engagement with the APC leadership.
The team is expected to work towards building a broad-based network capable of mobilising support, communicating the achievements and programmes of the APC administration, and advancing the political interests of the party and its preferred candidates.
The inaugural meeting ended with a renewed commitment to unity, discipline, loyalty, and purposeful political engagement.
