The Ogun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the immediate suspension of its State Chairman, Otunba Dr. Femi Soluade, following a unanimous vote of no confidence passed by the State Executive Committee (SEC) at a meeting held on Sunday, 15th February, 2026, at the Party State Secretariat.
In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Olumide Onabajo, the SEC said it had “deliberated extensively on the numerous allegations levelled against the State Chairman” and, after “exhaustive deliberations and careful consideration of the gravity of the issues presented,” resolved to suspend him. The vote of no confidence “was duly signed by all Local Government Chairmen present and all members of the State Executive Committee, reflecting the collective and unanimous position of the party leadership at both the state and local government levels.”
The Committee condemned “in strong terms the ugly incident of Saturday, 14th February, 2026, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Ibara, where a peaceful gathering was ongoing for the public declaration of the governorship aspiration of H.E. Jimi Lawal.” It alleged that “the State Chairman arrived at the venue accompanied by armed thugs, disrupted the event and caused serious chaos.”
The SEC noted that “such conduct, if established after due investigation, is not only unbecoming of a party leader but also constitutes a serious breach of party discipline and a threat to public peace and safety.” Consequently, “and in line with the provisions of the Party Constitution and to uphold the integrity, transparency, and credibility of our great party, the State Executive Committee hereby announces the immediate suspension of Otunba Dr. Femi Soluade as State Chairman, pending the outcome of further investigations.”

A Disciplinary Committee has been set up “to thoroughly investigate all the allegations brought against him, including the events at Intercontinental Hotel, Ibara.” The Committee has been given “a mandate of fourteen (14) days to conduct a comprehensive review and submit its findings and recommendations to the State Executive Committee,” with reference to the party constitution, Article 22 section 1-10.
To ensure continuity, the SEC announced that “the Deputy State Chairman, Prince Adedeji Babatunde Abiodun, [has been appointed] to act in the capacity of State Chairman pending the conclusion of the investigation and further decisions by the Committee.” The statement emphasized that “this decision was taken in the best interest of the party and to preserve internal democracy, accountability, discipline, and unity within our ranks.”
The SEC assured members and the public that “due process will be strictly followed and that fairness and justice will guide the proceedings,” urging all members “to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to the ideals of our party during this period.” It concluded: “Further updates will be communicated as developments unfold.”
