Southwest ADC Void Alleged Suspension of Ogun State Chairman

The Southwest Zonal Leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially rejected the reported suspension of its Ogun State Chairman, Otunba Olufemi Soluade, dismissing the move as unconstitutional and legally void.
In a strongly worded statement released over the weekend, the Zonal Leadership, led by Coordinator Rahman Owokoniran, addressed a viral report circulated by what they termed “unauthorized individuals” claiming to have ousted the state chairman.

According to the party’s Zonal hierarchy, the purported suspension bypassed all established constitutional protocols. The leadership clarified that disciplinary actions against elected officials can only be initiated by properly constituted organs of the party, adhering strictly to the ADC constitution.
“Any attempt by individuals to unilaterally suspend a sitting state chairman without following due process is a violation of our democratic norms and party laws,” the statement read.

The National Director of Communication and Programmes, Babatunde Oke, who signed the statement, reaffirmed that the current Ogun State executive remains the only recognized leadership. He urged party members and the general public to disregard the “illegal notice.”
Reacting to the development, the Ogun State Chairman alleged that the move was a result of manipulation. He claimed that several Local Government chairmen were misled into attending a meeting under false pretenses, only to be coerced into signing documents that were later attached to the illegal suspension letter.

The Zonal leadership warned “political merchants” against trying to destabilize the party for personal gain. They emphasized that the ADC remains committed to its national reform agenda and internal discipline.
The party called on all members in the Southwest to remain united and focused on strategic planning for the 2027 general elections, insisting that the party will not be distracted by “transactional politicians.”
