The Ogun state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) has join Nigerians in celebrating the entire membership of Nigerian Union of Teachers(NUT) and in particular, Ogun State Teachers as the world observes Teachers’ Day today.

Ogun PDP in a press statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Bankole Akinloye (JP), Bankole in his statement stated that:

“The PDP is particularly excited that members of NUT in Ogun state still enjoy the privilege of celebrating despite all the daunting hazards militating against their productivity and the harsh realities of Covid’19 which has almost truncated a large part of the year 2020”.

“In line with our party’s consistent mark of honor, we feel elated as we identify with teachers in Ogun state for their unwavering and patriotic contributions to national development. We say a big thank you to all our valued teachers”.

“For us as a party with a long standing tradition of excellent working relationship with members of the working class, especially the teachers in Ogun state, we have always held that teachers’ welfare and entitlements deserve priority attention by any sane government. Teachers are the central factors that drive every other sectors in social engineering”.

“Therefore for PDP, teachers’ bountiful rewards should not and can no longer remain in heaven. Our great party shall continue to, in relentless partnership with the teachers to bring their entitlements to their tables”.

“Our party notes with strong concerns, the unimpressive working conditions which Ogun teachers are subjected to by the ruling APC government. Teachers’ statutory monthly renumerations are being diverted to private vaults, other standing emoluments, gratuity, pensions and even leave bonuses are not being paid as at when due. Infact, in Ogun state, teachers have never had it so bad and their high sense of perseverance is applauded”.

“In the spirit of this year’s Teachers’ Day, the PDP challenges the ruling government to re order its priority by exhibiting unwavering commitment to the plights of Ogun teachers. We also restate our commitments and solidarity as a party with the teachers and other working class in our State. Their cause shall continue to be our cause as we remain resolute in championing a reign of a better future for all in Ogun state and beyond”.

“Happy Teachers’ Day, dear teachers”.
