Ogun State, the hosting State has clinched on another gold medal in golf by Owolabi Olajide at the on going 22nd national sports festival tagged: ogun gateway games 2024.
The gold medal was won at the stableford amateur (men)games with 37 points as the highest point in the table of 42 States competing for the medal and Ogun State came first as Owolabi olajide returned 37 points gold medal followed by FCT Abuja second position with 36 points Silver by Inalegwu David , third position goes to jigawa State with 33 points bronze by ado danladi , while Plateau State came 4th position with 31 points by pam wash dung .While Rivers State came first in the stableford amateur (ladies) category championship on the table with gold medal by frank chinyere who returned with 23 points that top on the table as first position with gold medal, 2nd position goes to Ogun State with 20 points by mohammed latifat with silver medal while 3rd position goes to lagos with 18 points by Bisong Regina Dachi with a bronze medal on the table of Ladies and FCT 4th position with 17 points by Agbo Grace Akondu.
At the end of the day 2 golf championship games for the on going 22nd national sports festival in Ogun State, there was a Technical meeting comprised Coaches and officials of the game across the 24 States present for the game which was closed by an open draws for day 3 of the game , 23rd may 2025 , with singles matchplay – Professional (ladies).
Bayelsa got bye to next step and to play Edo State while Edo State to play FCT Abuja first round and FCT get bye to another stage with Ogun State, Lagos State to play Plateau State, Delta to play Ogun State in that order while Ogun State get bye to next stage to play FCT Abuja for the third round of Ladies Professional matchplay, Ogun State to play FCT and Delta to play Plateau State.
While all the other games that was kicked started yesterday will be concluded today
