Ogun West PDP Reaffirms Support for Adebutu, Criticizes Akinlade’s Conduct

L-R: Akinmade, Adebutu

Ogun West PDP Leaders Forum has expressed their unwavering support for Hon. Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu, despite recent criticisms from Hon. Abdulkabir Akinlade, the party’s deputy governorship candidate in the last general election.

In a statement, the forum addressed what they described as “ungentlemanly” remarks from Akinlade, who hails from Ogun West. They emphasized that Adebutu had played a pivotal role in bringing Akinlade into the party, despite Akinlade not being a member of the PDP as recently as 2022. The forum highlighted Adebutu’s efforts to integrate Akinlade and his followers into the party’s mainstream, particularly in Ogun West.

The leaders questioned Akinlade’s contributions to the party, both financially and in terms of support, during the election period. They noted that Akinlade’s reliance on Adebutu’s financial resources was evident, and his claims of significant support in Ogun West were unfounded.

The forum also pointed to Akinlade’s history of alleged treachery and backstabbing, citing his past actions against his elder brother, Otunba Akeem Adigun, and former governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun. They expressed relief that Akinlade did not become the deputy governor, suggesting that his presence could have posed a threat to Adebutu.

The statement concluded by urging the public not to judge the entire Ogun West political landscape based on Akinlade’s actions. The forum asserted that Akinlade’s behavior does not reflect the values and standards of the Yewa and Awori communities. They described Akinlade as an exception to their collective ethos and criticized his reputation for being untrustworthy and driven by greed and ambition.

The Ogun West PDP Leaders Forum remains steadfast in their support for Adebutu and advises caution in future dealings with Akinlade.
