After the Emergency Meeting of the Forum of Chairmen of ACCORD in the South-West States held on Thursday 9th April, 2026, in Oshogbo, Osun State, the six (6) Chairmen of ACCORD in South-West States issued a communiqué and press statement after their meeting. According to Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael, spokesperson of the Forum of Chairmen of ACCORD, who is also the State Chairman of ACCORD in Ogun State said: “With the 2026 governorship election drawing near in Osun State, the political atmosphere is getting clearer. Senator Ademola Adeleke is the candidate of ACCORD for the upcoming election which will hold on August 5th, 2026. Therefore, the Forum of Chairmen of ACCORD in the South-West region is humbly rallying support for Sen. Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid.
This move by the Forum has been inspired by the effective style of governance and leadership shown by Senator Adeleke, and also influenced by an objective evaluation of how he is performing as governor. The Chairmen pointed out that governance should be used as a means of developing and serving the people and this was clearly illustrated by the current administration of Osun State.
On behalf of the Forum, Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael said: “The major achievements of Senator Adeleke’s administration, according to the Forum, include the obvious development that can be seen in several areas. In addition to the infrastructural and welfare development that has taken place, it is clear that the administration of Senator Adeleke has set Osun State back on the path of development. Roads that have long been neglected are being developed while several other public offices are being renewed through policies that favour the masses.”
This was coupled with the commendation of Governor Adeleke’s close relationship with the masses, as Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael observes: “Governor Adeleke has remained a governor who has maintained a rare closeness with the people, thereby ensuring that the process of governance does not remain aloof from the grassroot. This has made him popular among the people.”

It was also stated that this growing popularity can be attributed to the success of the administration since citizens are beginning to feel included in the process of development. It should be noted that these successes are the product of strategic measures put in place to address the needs and desires of the people.
While calling on the people of Osun State to support Governor Adeleke through his re-election bid, the South-West Chairmen of ACCORD enjoined them not to swap a performing government for anything else.
It is also important to add that the Forum made some warning statements to the general voters, cautioning the political groups that have records in their previous administrations that do not portray good faith and integrity in governance. It added that from past history, governance records indicate that the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not live up to the expectations of the citizens of the state and should be used as a guideline when voting for candidates.
It is also clear that in order to prevent a return to the period of struggle and underdevelopment in Osun State, the citizens should be aware and cautious when casting their votes. From the Forum’s perspective, the APC does not reflect the real interest of the people due to their previous record in the state.
In other words, the future of Osun State rests in the hands of its people who must work together to ensure that those who have shown their dedication towards development, inclusiveness, and good governance hold sway within the state.
This statement was released through Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael who is Spokesman for the Forum of Chairmen of ACCORD in South-West States and State Chairman of ACCORD in Ogun State.
