A young boy has been gunned down by a policeman in Ozoro Community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, over possession of knockout.

According to Dailypost, the incident occurred Saturday night. It was gathered that policemen stormed the area an found a knockout in the victim’s possession.

Reports indicated that the police tried to arrest the deceased boy but he resisted and in his attempt to escape, one of the Policemen opened fire and killed him.

However, the Initiative For Social Rights Concerns And Advancement (ISRCA), has condemned in strong terms the dastard murder of the young boy by the Policeman.

ISRCA National Coordinator, Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen in a statement said, “I condemn in strong terms, the unprofessional conduct of the Police operative alleged to have perpetuated the act.”

The group also appealed to well-meaning Nigerians especially indigenes of Ozoro Community to be civil in their approach at all times, especially when dealing with armed Police officers.

The group urged the Nigeria Police Force Delta State to carry out a thorough investigation on the matter and bring the erring officer to justice just as he condoled with the family of the deceased.

Agberen said, “I sympathize with the family of the young boy that was allegedly shot by a Police officer at Ozoro last night, arising from knockouts that were found in his possession. It was alleged that the young man resisted arrest and while he was running, he was shot by one of the Police officers.”

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe in a WhatsApp message sent to our Correspondent confirmed the report.

According to him, “The policeman has been identified and detained, and the CP assures the family of justice”.
