The Yobe State Government has denied issuing any statement with regards to the approval of the new minimum wage, which is currently trending on the social media.

Making this known, the Director-General Press and Media Affairs to Yobe state Governor, Mamman Mohammed, on Thursday, while reacting to what he described as false and misleading post on the social media alleging approval of a new minimum wage in the state.

Contrary to speculation, he said, they are still working on it, and would provide a statement on it, as soon as it is completed.

He said, “The post failed to provide details nor indicate when and where the statement emanated, making the content professionally discredited.

“Similarly, Daily Trust newspaper has disowned the content, saying the logo used on the online post is not its logo, and the story could not be found on its website”.

According to Mohammed, “It was grossly irresponsible, pre-emptive and misleading for anyone to unofficially speak, or post any statement for, or on behalf of the state government.”

He, however advised public to disregard the misleading post, saying they will be furnished with the official and credible statement from the government.
