Abiodun Administration Ends Teachers’ Career Stagnation, Advances Teachers to GL.17 2

Abeokuta, December 18, 2025 – Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the career advancement of Graduate Primary School Teachers (Tutor Cadre) from Grade Level 16 to Grade Level 17.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, who explained that the decision is aimed at addressing stagnation at the peak of the cadre and boosting motivation among teachers to ensure improved service delivery in the primary education system.

Mr. Onasanya further revealed that the Governor also approved a consolidated salary structure for Head-Teacher General, effectively upgrading their status. He noted that this move underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and supporting its workforce.

According to him, the policy decision on career elongation follows a review of existing progression frameworks and is designed to enhance learning outcomes across the state. He added that the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has been directed to implement the policy without delay.

“This development aligns with the ISEYA pillar of the administration and reaffirms Ogun State’s role as the education hub of the country,” Onasanya stated.

He emphasized that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government remains focused on implementing progressive policies to advance educational development, urging the teaching workforce to remain dedicated to efficient service delivery.
