Adekoya Rejects Calls to Exit PDP, Cites Loyalty Over Opportunism

Amid mounting pressure from political commentators and strategists to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. (Hon.) Adekoya Adesegun Abdel-Majid has officially broken his silence, dismissing the calls as “premature” and reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the party.

In a strongly worded press statement released by Attacker Media ‘27, the former lawmaker addressed the growing speculation surrounding his political future. The statement characterized the recent wave of advice to abandon the PDP—currently entangled in high-stakes legal proceedings—as a “test of character” that Abdel-Majid intends to pass through loyalty rather than convenience.

The release emphasized that political platforms should be built on ideology and shared struggle, not treated as disposable tools for personal gain.

> “Leadership is not about jumping ship at the slightest storm,” the statement read. “It is about standing firm, providing direction, and inspiring confidence even in uncertain times.”

The response comes as the political landscape awaits a definitive ruling from the Supreme Court regarding internal party disputes. While Abdel-Majid’s camp acknowledged the legal uncertainty, they maintained that the rule of law must take its course without “mortgaging values on the altar of speculation.”

Explicitly denies rumors of a planned exit to rival parties.
Points to a track record of infrastructure and community development as proof of “people-centered” leadership.

Urges supporters and “party faithful” to ignore the “political noise” and remain resolute.

Affirms that while the Supreme Court judgment will be respected, the mission of the PDP remains “strong and viable.”

The timing of the statement, signed by his media wing, signals a strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 election cycle. By framing the current crisis as a moment for “conviction over convenience,” Abdel-Majid is clearly attempting to solidify his base and distinguish himself from “fair-weather politicians.”
“History will always remember those who stood when it mattered most,” the statement concluded, signaling that for Abdel-Majid, the path forward remains firmly within the folds of the PDP—regardless of the legal outcome.
